The "Teplocom" Company has developed the technical documentation on upgrading the most common drum dryers. It allows performing sugar drying and cooling in one unit. In combination with the scrubber designed by "Teplocom", in case of correct selection of auxiliary equipment and maintaining optimal operation modes, such upgraded dryer-and-cooler complexes perform better than the existing ones.

The advantages of the upgraded complexes are as follows:
• yield of ready sugar, meeting the requirements of bulk storage in silo (temperature 20 to 25⁰С, humidity 0,03 to 0,05%);
• increased productivity by 1,5 times on the existing equipment at minimum capital outlays;
• efficiency of purification of used air, extracted from the drying-cooling drum, up to 99,5%;
• decreased sugar losses (~ by 10%) due to lowering the losses with emissions to atmosphere;
• saving production areas due to a lesser area occupied by the dryer-and-cooler complex;
• better sanitary and hygienic conditions of operation in the dryer-and-cooler complex room.

  

Figure 1 features the principal layout of the dryer-and-cooler complex on the basis of the upgraded dryer made in Poland.

Figure 2 features the principal layout of the dryer-and-cooler complex on the basis of the upgraded dryer manufactured by the "Progress" Factory, Berdichev.

Here the dryer is conventionally divided into two zones longwise – drying zone and cooling zone. Hot air is fed through the central rotating tube to the drying zone, while on the sugar discharge side, counter-flow air is fed for sugar cooling. Three fans are used in the dryer-and-cooler complex.

In order to decrease sugar grains abrasion, the drum's sector nozzles are upgraded.

The "Teplocom" Company has also developed the upgraded versions of other dryer types, used in the sugar industry.

The "Teplocom" Company will undertake development and implementation of the "turn-key" project of upgrading the sugar dryer-and-cooler complex.
